We took a small road trip to Red Lodge this last weekend. The temperature in Billings, went over 100 degrees, so it was nice to get out of town. Even though, we were only about an hour south of Billings it was about 15 degrees cooler.
We started our day by walking around Red Lodges down town, and doing some shopping. I then met , at Mignon's gifts and flowers, and found out we are doing a wedding together, at Rock Creek Resort, mid August. She was so helpful and nice. She also helped me find the Wildflower Gardens, I have a wedding there at the beginning of August. What a beautiful place, I will post the pictures after the wedding. After a little business talk, and more shopping (at some of the cutest shops ever), we had lunch and took a drive on the Beartooth Highway. The Beartooth Highway climbs to an elevation of 10,947 feet, before it levels off. We got out of the car at Vista Point and looked around. The temperature was about 20 degrees cooler than at the base. It was such a nice change, we turned of the air and opened the windows. After Vista Point, we kept going up, and up. Once we reached the top and crossed into Wyoming we got out of the car and walked on some snow. Then we got back in the car and continued to drive a little farther, we stopped when there was a small traffic jam. We looked around, and saw the reason for the traffic jam, a Mountain goat, chomping on some grass, he didn't even seem to care everyone was looking at him, so my husband Keith, jumped out of the car and took some pictures.
After we came down the mountain, we decided to stop at a little ice cream shop called, Scoops. Very cute little soda fountain, and ice cream shop.
As we drove home to Billings, I thought about how lucky I am to have such a great little family, and that we live in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
